Yes, it was 10 years ago today in rock and roll history that Metallica brought suit against Napster. And thank the rock and roll gods that they did! Luckily, their lawsuit against Napster was able to shut down all unauthorized sharing of music files, especially over peer-to-peer networks.

Oh! Wait!

What I meant was their lawsuit made Napster a household word, made their fans lose respect for Metallica, and introduced the idea of sharing music into the popular consciousness.
